Charlotte, NC July 29, 2009 JORDAN PEMBLETON REPRESENTING NORTH CAROLINA INDOOR KARTING TRACKS AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN BRAZIL. Fifty years ago this month, the Go Kart Club of America held the first ever National Championships in karting. This week our countries best drivers travel to Macae, Brazil to compete in the 5th Annual World Indoor Karting Championship. Karting has expanded worldwide over the last 50 years and now indoor karting is taking it’s rightful place as a serious segment of kart racing. In 2005, for the 1st time ever, drivers from across the world met to compete in an Indoor Kart World Championship event. held at an indoor rental kart facility. The historic event brought together in competition 40 drivers from 9 different countries. Since then, over 80 drivers take on the challenge every year, with over 25 countries having been represented in the competition. After 4 unforgettable events in the USA and Belgium over the years, the world's best drivers will meet again on August 2-9, 2009, this time at Macae' Centro in Rio de Janeiro (Macae'), Brazil, to compete for the highest honor in the sport of indoor kart racing, the Indoor Kart World Championship Driver's Title! The track in Brazil was just completed for this event and all karts are new, identical and randomly assigned for each race to help ensure that driver skill will determine the championship. Representing the 4 North Carolina indoor tracks is Jordan Pembleton. Jordan a recent UNCC graduate and racing out of Victory Lane Indoor Karting where he is also employed, earned the honor by beating the best drivers in the state in the 8 event North Carolina Indoor Karting Championship. The event was held 2 times at each indoor karting track, Rush Hour (Garner), Grand Prix Greensboro (Greensboro), The Pit (Mooresville) and Victory Lane Indoor Karting (Charlotte). The 8 day racing series in Brazil will also have team race events and Jordan will be joined by Cody Robnett sponsored by Team Victory Lane Indoor Karting. This facility located in Charlotte has consistently groomed and supported the finest racers in the industry. Many of the young and not so young drivers from Bandolero to Sprint Cup are members and use this facility as a place to race with friends or hone their skills. Only five drivers from this country have confirmed entry in the championship, but keeping true to the roots of indoor kart racing, anyone who wishes to challenge the experts, regardless of experience, is also welcome!
